S&W M&P45 vs CZ 97B

I've got the 97B already, had 3 of them previously and they're amazing pistols. I just ordered the M&P45 this evening and while I have owned S&W pistols before, I've never owned this one or any of the M&P line. Anyone out there have any personal experience with both of these pistols? Looking for a bit of a side by side before my new toy arrives.

No idea on the CZ. The M&P45 fits my small hands very well and shoots much softer than my 1911's. I love the thing. I have done the homebrew trigger mods and it is my favorite gun in .45 Auto.

I'll take CZ97B anytime. No offense meant against polymer pistols, but the weight of 97B softens the recoil from the massive .45 cal round. If you are comfortable with polymer, go for it. Reviews are for us to know how users feel about their toys. My personal opinion should not sway you in deciding which toy to purchase.
Safe shooting!

The M&P 45 is very soft shooting, noticeably softer than a 1911, or Glock. The grip with the smallest insert is barely larger than a 9mm, and the gun points very well. It's possible to work the trigger to a very nice weight and break without the services of a gunsmith, and holsters, mags and other parts are easily available.

Like I mentioned in my original post, this isn't a question of which one to buy. I already own the 97B and I just purchased the M&P45. I was just looking for side by side opinions from those that have owned both. Guess the curiosity is getting to me before the M&P arrives.

Well after using both for a couple of weeks, I'd have to say that I enjoy the CZ more than the M&P. The CZ weighs more and so I find that it tames the recoil significantly more than the M&P. As a result of the tamer recoil, it was easier to hold on target for follow-up shots. Even with single shots, the CZ seemed a bit more accurate. My hands are on the larger side and so for me, the bigger size of the CZ also felt more comfortable to shoot. Don't get me wrong, the M&P is a great gun to shoot, I still really enjoyed it. However between the 2 of them, for me personally, the CZ wins. I will however keep both, we're all gun nutz after all and one can never have too many guns :D

Can't say for the CZ but when comparing my M2.0 45 to my jericho 9mm, yes i still find the jericho to be slightly more accurate (full steel frame) but the M&P really impressed me. The recoil is marginally more than the jericho and I've ordered a DPMS recoil spring to help a little. Again, super impressed with the fit, feel and performance of the M&P 45 (M2.0 however)

For a range gun I would rather have the 97B but for any practical purposes I would take the M&P. I have an obsession with CZ pistols but it's mostly limited to the range. Hard to beat a striker fired polymer framed pistol for carry or defense.

If Smith and Wesson would start making CZ clones, now that would be something. I love my CZs but their finish and QC leave much to be desired. They look pretty lacking next to a 3rd gen smith or an M&P.

I've often dreamed of having getting a CZ cajunized then sent for a high polish blued finish.
