So please forgive my noobness. I just received my almost new M&P9 from a fellow CGN'er and took it to the range this weekend. It functions well though HSM reloaded ammo did have a couple FTF's. It shot the Blazer Brass just fine. I had read on here that it is hard to load the 10th round into the magazines. I can only seem to load 9 rounds. I can't seem to load the 10th, either by hand or using the UpLULA. Am I doing something wrong or just not trying hard enough? It just doesn't seem like it should take that much elbow grease. Will the spring loosen up over time?

loaders are great for loading, but don't do anything for functionality. I have 2 mags that are a real fight to get the tenth round in by hand and are still a chore with a loader. Figuring I'll work them in and put them in the rotation during a match was a huge fail on my behalf. If you cant compress the spring by hand, you can pretty much bet that you will have troubles getting it to seat properly on a tactical reload. Lesson learned. Thing about mags is they should not compress all the way to bottoming out on the floor plate for that exact reason. if you're fully bottoming out sanding the follower will achieve nothing. Choices then are hope they break in and suffer or clip half a coil off the spring.

The follower has legs, front and back, with a U shape between them. File the leg at least 1/10 inch shorter. This allows 10th round to load and the loaded mag to latch in place with the action closed. The follower legs are plastic, so it is real easy to do.

Hijacking the thread, but for good reason!

Will M&P40 mags work in a M&P9? Something like glock 40 mags in a 9mm glock to get more ammo? Yes, but not well is what I am assuming...

Considering a pistol purchase.
