S&w m&p9 stove pipe malfunctions?

They, like just about every other Auto Loader out there, will have some sort of ejection or feed issue it you don't have a proper grip on them.

I have about 250 rounds throught mine (I know that's not much, but the guns only a couple weeks old), and I have not had any feed issues at all...

I had a shooter on my Squad at a match this weekend had feed issues every stage on the first shot, and first shot after a reload with two different M&Ps. Deffinatly not the gun...

Fte

I had a couple of FTE issues with my "new to me" M&P9 the second to last time I was out at the range.

Bought a cartridge gauge to check the reloads I'm using (found 4 out of 450 that didn't fit right), gave the gun a good scrub down, no issues since.

everything with mine's worked great! i'm even sure the girlfriend limp-wristed a few times but still didn't hiccup

Has anyone heard about m&p 9's being notorious for stove piping? Or other feed issues?

I have 1250 rounds through mine with zero issues, and it has only had one good cleaning at about 700 rounds. I have used 115g PMC, American Eagle, Winchester and Hornady z-max, plus a couple handfulls of random reloads from another guy at the range.

I should probably note that I modified the magazines to make them easier to load, and I know a lot of other people have as well. If done incorrectly it WILL cause feeding issues, so be warned.

Weak ammo, weak wristing, dirty chamber, damaged extractor, crud under extractor...

Nope I've had, and done, all of the above (except the damaged extractor) - the only issues I've had were a direct result of really, really bad ammo and overused reloaded casings (not enough rim left to allow ejection). 25,000 rounds + down the tube.

There is a video on youtube where a guy deliberately limp-wrists a variety of handguns and the M&P9 came out as one of the most reliable. Glock came out worst.
In another video a guy complains about the cycling of an M&P but in shooting for the camera he clearly shows a crappy grip and "riding the slide".

I don't think the M&P is any different from any other gun. Use it properly and feed it well and it will work properly.

Only got about 300 rounds through mine so far but only prob was 2 FTF's, and both had a good strike on the primer.

Then they (the primers) probably weren't seated fully - when the striker hits a high primer, it seats the primer, but in doing so it loses enough energy to fail to fire the primer. Primers should seat below the shoulder of the pocket - this problem can happen with factory ammo, but it is rare.

I have heard that some M&P9s have the extractor from the 40 and this can cause FTEs. Apex Tactical sells a "Failure Resistant Extractor" to solve the problem.
