S&W M66 Barrel Length

I have a couple of S&W M66 .357s, both ostensibly 4" barrels. However, looking at the one I recently acquired (a 66-1), it is longer than than that by 1/16th". As I understand it, that mans it qualifies as "restricted" as opposed to "prohibited".

My wife had a pair of Ruger SR9s with barrels that measured 4.14" and they were "restricted".

Can I apply to have this gun reclassified? Can a verifier do this on my behalf?

Yes, you will need to find a verifier that can measure it and complete the paperwork and submit it for you. Many gunsmiths can verify it for you, however you may have to send it away to have it done depending on were you are located.
