No there were Husqvarna made ones before the Howas IIRC. Howa did the 15-1700 family for them

They were . I bought one in 338WM off of our mutual friend , Bob Prestach , for the Grand total of 400 bones back in the day . A really accurate and reliable rifle . Naturally I traded it off for something else at Bobs not long after I got it tuned in lol . Man I miss that gunshop.

Back in the 80's Howa built 1500 S&W rifles. Good guns and can still be picked up for cheap. Never saw Huskys but probably did them. Ithaca sold Tikkas for several years as well.

As others have stated the S&W 1500 from the early 80's were made by Howa. I have a Deluxe model made in 1981. Great shooting gun still to this day. It's in 30-06. Very nicely made guns. I like it so much, I just bought a Weatherby Vanguard in 308 Win. these are also made by Howa.

Not much is a bargain now. Our dollar isn't worth much. I've owned a few Howa made rifles over the years, labeled as S&W, Howa and Mossberg. All were decent rifles. - dan

If memory serves I think S&W also owned/sold Thompson Centerfire as their own…I’m pretty sure my Icon was under the S&W banner.
