What's the going rate for a good+ condition S&W Mod 29 .44cal with a 6.5 inch barrel? The blueing is good, but there is a little chip out of the left pistol grip where your thumb goes.

Thanks guys.

It appears to have the original grips. Think they're called Diamond grips because of the diamond shape around the grip screw.

Picture quality is kinda dark for me, so tough to tell.

6.5" barrels aren't as common.

If you open the cylinder there should a model # and maybe a - mark. Example 29-1. If no dash it is a first generation Model 29.

Could be worth a decent price, but I'll let a more expert opinion say.

Was made before 68 , cos carry diamond grip and they were delete in that year, look like a 3 screw. So either a 29-1 or-2.

3rd Catalog of S&W
Exc 3 screw 29-2: $700.00
Very Good: $450.00

And now for the 29-1 GuLP!! I am myself surprised!!

Exc 3 screw : $2,850.00
Very Good : $1500.00
If a 4 screw 29-1, bring slight premium.

I just checked. It's a 29-2. As for the round count, I only put 18 rounds through it. I don't know how many the previous owner put through her. I bought this a few years ago so that I could go handgun hunting in the States with a cousin. He's gone now so I have no use for this.

BTW. What do you mean by 3 or 4 screw?

Here's a couple more pics.

3 or 4 screw or 5 screw was the number of screw! on the side plate and the front trigger guard. For a while the S&W had 5 screw, 4 sideplate and one front trigger guard. In 1956, the upper sideplate screw was delete, in 1962, the front trigger guard screw was delete. But with the introduction of the Classic series in 2007, the upper side plate screw was add, more as a cosmetic change than a technical one. For some collectors, this is something they look for.

Hi hate to say but that gun worth more than $525 if those grips are the real "Coke Bottle " grips which sell on Ebay for $400 and up alone your gun could be worth $850 to a $1000 easily.Coke bottle grips came on most of the .44's sold between 1956 to 1965 the only way to tell fursure is looking at the back strap of the gun and you will see the contour of the sides of the grip slightly bulging outward the swell that will fit the palm of the hand comfortly.
