I own a S&W model 2206 .22 cal auto pistol (stainless, "target").

I have had little luck finding anything out about it.

If you have any information relating to this series of gun (i.e. production dates, personal anecdotes/experiences, comments, info. links etc. etc.) it would be very much appreciated.

I understand the 2206 came in multiple barrel lengths, blued or stainless, and the "target" model came with some nice adj. sights and up level grips.

I bought mine in 1999 and have only recently started shooting it with any regularity. It works like a dream, is very accuarate and a real pleasure to shoot. At 60 yards I can easily attain a quality hit rate of 80% or better (for me, that pretty good).

I wouldn't mind scoring an extra 10 round mag for it.

Thanks.

Hey - thanks for the info guys.

I guess I got lucky because I currently have 550 rounds through this gun without ANY sort of cleaning and it hasn't missed a beat - seems like a quality product to me.

I normally do not let a gun go this long without cleaning, but I'm testing it to see what it'll handle.

Have a look here: http://www.gun-tests.com/performance/mar97failed.html

I owned one in the early 1990s. Bought brand new for about $350. I liked it but mine was pretty finicky with ammo. It couldn't handle being dirty either. A couple of hundred rounds and the FTF and FTEs started to happen.

I did love the magazine release in the frontstrap of the mag well though. I am a lefty and found this ambidexterous placement very enjoyable.

Mine was a good shooter too. When the round actually did go "bang". I had to clean it constantly though.

As a comparison, I have a Buckmark now that I bought over a year ago and have cleaned it only once. Many a brick of ammo has passed through it in the meantime without a hitch.
