S&W Model 29-2 oversize hand?

Is there a source in Canada for an oversize hand for S&W revolvers? I have a slight timing issue with my 29-2 as its just a hair out on carry up on two or three positions.
 
^^^ it can be stretched or it can have extra steel welded on to extend it and then reshape. I've done this in the past with a S/A and although it was time consuming and tricky as hell (filing it down, reassembling and testing, over, and over.....) it did work in the end. Gives a whole new appreciation to the gunsmiths of 200 years ago!
 
If it wasn't such a pain you could ship it to S&W in the states and they would fix it for nothing. I have friends down there that have done just that and the turn around time is 2 weeks or less.

Why would you pay hundreds and hundreds of dollars in import/export permits, plus shipping costs four ways when Murray Charlton is the S&W factory warranty rep, I say again factory warranty rep? I had two issues with my 8 year old 500 S&W and the total cost of repair other than gas was free.
 
The 3 P's of project management: time, cost, quality.

Usually one is sacrificed to promote the others.

I'll give you Murray = quality and your cost = negligible. What was your time factor? Time factor if you weren't local???

I think I will do that. I'm in no hurry.
The gun works fine in DA and SA. It's only when I pull the hammer back extremely slowly does it not carry up on two positions.
I can do machine work and I thought I would do this myself. But if I can't buy the hand I will send it out.
 
usually a replacement hand will be more or less a blank that has to be formed and fitted to the gun... lots of fiddling, but if you want to try it cant really hurt.... but it would save some time to send it in.

I thought I would do it as a project. I've custom machined parts for vintage 35mm Japanese rangefinder cameras and I'm a mechanic by trade so I don't mind custom fitting parts. I've actully had to make parts for vintage carbs out of blocks of aluminum and brass with files, so I thought this may be along that line.
But in the end I want my 29-2 to be safe and function as it should, so sending it away doesn't bother me. I've been told that many older S&W's do this and that I should just enjoy it but the perfectionist in me wants it perfect.
The gun functions 100% at the range. But we always need a project.
