Apparently my local gunsmith found that my trigger pin is broke on my model 29. Can this be fixed by a S&W gunsmith?

The only one I am aware of in Canada is MD Charlton and the turn around is painfully slow. Is there another one in Canada?

thanks

smith & wesson gunsmith

years ago I had a warrenty thing with my smith 586 . I sent it to Wortners Gunworks in Chatham ontario . :dancingbanana:

I tried finding a website and it doesn't appear that they have one. I know were suppose to support those above and I try and do so.

Are any of the sponsers certified S&W repair depots?

You don't need a certified S&W shop to change this pin. Brownells sells it for $2.86 and it is not a restricted part. Any gunsmith should be able to do it.

Are you referring to the trigger stud when you say trigger pin.???
The trigger stud and hammer stud are both a press fit and are probably the most difficult part to replace on a S & W revolver. You need a very good press and inserts to do the job. I did several back in the late 80`s and if I recall even S&W state you will have a 10% or so failure rate as sometimes the frame will give way around the stud hole even with frame side supports.
When the stud breaks free it goes with a bang and I just about fainted when this happened on the first one I did. A new stud is then pressed back in and then filed/polished flush then reblued. Not an easy task and I would not even hazard a guess as to cost.
I do not have the tooling as I worked for the province when I did these. MD Charlton should be able to replace the trigger stud but I do not think any one else can. I wish I could be more helpfull with your problem.
S&W could fix you up if you could find a way to get your frame back to Springfield Mass.

I have not seen this part but from the description of a competant gunsmith. I believe it is the trigger stud as he said he could not fix it. Thanks for clarifing that. I believe he called it a trigger pin but I may have misinterpeted that as it was over the phone.

I guess I have to try MD and see what they can do for me if not I would assume that they have a better chance getting it to the states and back then I do.
