I've owned my 12 ga S&W model 3000 pump shotgun since I bought it new in 1984. At the time it was $480.00 and came with a 3" chamber, vent rib, twin beads, three screw in chokes on a 26" barrel, high gloss light walnut stock, and all steel receiver and barrel with high polished bluing. The gun has been solid over the years and functioned flawlessly. I must admit she has been a safe queen for the last 10 years.

One thing though, I have never seen anyone else that owned one. At the time all my buds bought the Remington 870 Wingmasters.

Thought I'd start a thread for all owners of these guns to share the date they bought them etc.

Hope to see a few posts regarding this classic 80's shotgun.:D

These are great guns! The S&W 3000 was made by Howa for S&W and was miles ahead of their previous shotgun - the 916 (junk).

At one time, the 3000 was the issue shotgun for both the Winnipeg Police Dept. and the OPP. I had a 20" barrel parkerized one with OPP markings that I wish I had not sold.

HEY! I was there when you bought that gun (I was one of the buds with an 870). It is a pretty nice gun and its workings closely resemble the 870's. I have seen a couple S+W autos of the same vintage, but yours is the only pump I have ever seen.
Nice to see you finally posting Ange!

Hey Dilly, brings back some memories, Rollie's Sporting Goods, Grand bend Ontario.

I'm really surprised though, no one out there in CGN owns one of these other than me? Really hoping to hear that someone else has one and is still using it.

We have a couple of those at work, along with some 870s. I find the S&W to be in the same class. It shoots great and is very comfortable.....looks nice too.

Beatiful 3000 MrClark. Does that say O.P.P. on the stock? That's quite the find.

So anyone else with a 3000?

Thanks and to think I almost sold it a few times. Yes sorry for the crappy pics it does say OPP on the stock and on the rcvr.

Also if yours has the same marks pm me the serial number and give me a week or so I should be able to tell you the history and or detachment it served with.

MrClark;

Here are some photos of my 3000. Sorry for quality, not that good yet. It's an actual hunter so it's a little fancier than the law enforcement versions:
