if you had a choice between these two guns which one would you pick???hitting power, distance, price of ammo, reloading ammo etc:...I like both but can't make up my mind..They say its cheaper to shoot a 9mm but distance and hitting power of the 40...just dont know

I have quite a few of both. Both will make the IDPA Power Factor requirement, so power is not an issue.

I find both to be about the same accuracy level in similar guns.

The 9mm is a bit heavier in 1911 form, so it has the least recoil for me. Buy both and make your own comparisons.

I have both 9mm and 40S&W guns. While a tough call - I say I pick up the 40's more - very slight cost difference (I reload) but a slightly bigger hole downrange. Not that it matters...

As stated above, resale on 9mm is better as it is a much bigger market.

M&P 9 - there's no point in 40 if you're punching paper (or anything else for that matter) you'll develope your skills quicker with a 9 than you will with a 40, both because ammo is cheaper and the calibre is easier on the shooter (you'll fatigue less during practice).

I shot both of those guns an i think the 40 is wayyyyyy better, just my opinion, and around durham 40 S&W ammo. are about the same price as 9mm. probably $1.00 more. There's always wolf ammo too.

9mm. cheaper and your restricted to only shooting paper anyways.

just bought my m&p 9mm today! range and carry kit is a wicked deal.

chilliwack dart and tackle for 669.99 ( range kit )

I own sig in 40 and shot a range buddies 9mm for the first time the other day, boring! The 40 or the 45 make you feel like your holding a gun. The 9mm is like a glorified 22
