Just ordered mine and will have it later this week, the distributor got in 17 pistols and my local dealer had reserved 5, they are the .40S&W version, they have them listed for $799.99, but mention CGN and they will discount the gun to $749.99. Target Sports 905-888-8288 in Gormley, Ontario - ask for Dave.

Thanks for posting the info, I was quite impressed with the pistol when I shoot it two weeks ago in Florida, I am a die hard Glock fan - but I liked the way the pistol fitted my hand & how it operated, the trigger is not quite the same as a Glock - but you can get used to it quite quickly and the recoil was quite manageable, I even liked the different backstraps, I am going to use the pistol in IDPA this summer along with my other combat tupperware:p .

Any real "reviews" on them yet? How do they compare to say the G17/22?

I did fire about 500rds through both the 9mm & 40 S&W version and was pleased overall, I will have to do a long term review of the M&P over the course of the summer.

I've been wanting one since I saw the flash on this. I really like the fact that it has an internal lock that deactivates it. I have a toddler that will one day grow up to be an inquizative teen and even though I plan to teach him respect and yes, fear for firearms, I also like a mechanincal backup in case he grows up to be a disobedient a$$hole like myself. ;) I will definatly have to get one now that I'm waiting for my 02 to arrive.

Please tell me this is a joke? If not, you are probably the only gunowner out there who likes "lawyer locks". I have internal locks in my USP and S&W 686 but I never use them. When the gun needs to be locked up, a trigger lock is a better alternative.

Heh,heh...secured one of those in the first shipment..
All of the press so far has been very positive (wow, that's stange!), and I'm not a big fan of 'tupperware' 40's, but I respect gadget's opinion...
Range report to follow when available....(Don't make me hurt you boy!);)

when u get it please provide a review of this pistol...run a 1000rds through it and see if u experience the pins and springs being loose. What is the warranty on this pistol?

$750 is not bad, I will probably wait for more people to get one before I'll really consider getting one myself...but I do think the gun will be a hit.

As soon as I have the pistol in hand I will run a 1000rds through it, and give some feedback.

All right folks here is the deal April 1st Saturday(between 10:00-13:00hrs) at Target Sports, anyone who once to come by help me breakin the M&P pistol is welcome, I am going to have a 1000+rounds of factory 180gr Winchester, and I will be on B range. I might also have a buddy with his brand new Steyr 9mm pistol which we will give the same treatment to.

did you guys know that in the US M&P goes for around $550 while Glock is only ~$450...So if the M&P here costs $750 how is it that Glocks go for $800-950

After reading the US review my next gun will be either a H&K USP in 9MM or a Sig in 9MM. Sounds like S&W have produced yet another failed attempt at being almost a Glock. KInd of like being the tallest midget IMHO.

Take Care

That statement might be a little rushed if you research how the Glock was evaluated in the beginning it did not fare any better. If you are in the GTA come by on April 1st and judge yourself, I was impressed with the inital contact I had and I am a Glock die hard/fanatic/lunatic/etcetcetc, I bought the gun not based on other peoples reviews but my own experience with the firearm, for those who can come join me in the fun on April 1st.

Just read a short review on it in the USPSA mag. Nearly identical to a G22 in dimensions, only a few ounces heavier. Grip angle like the 1911. Steel mag tubes. You can change the grip backstrap. Some funky tool stored in the grip for disassembly - but no need to pull the trigger. Overall the reviewer liked it. Will be available in 9mm in the future. Not yet on the IPSC approved Production list.

i was sold on the new s&w mp .40 until i read this thread
http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=5&f=4&t=24086&page=1
i still think its a very good pistol .
but im glad i had some time to think about it (waiting for my income tax return ).
when i finally got my return back on feb 20th i bought the springfield armory xd 40 5 inch tactical.
all guns have issues, and the mp is a lot better looking than the xd but i think i made the best decision for me
