S&W MP9 or Sig Sauer p226

Definitely SIG!! I regularly shoot with a friend who has a M&P 9 as his first handgun. He shoots it very well and accurately. BUT after trying a SIG P220 and some 1911s and revolvers in single action fire, he is ready to trade the M&P! He HATES the spongy striker fired trigger! I've shot my Glock vs. his Smith and the M&P definitely feels worse. SIG may be more expensive but it's like Porsche vs. Pontiac. They both drive but which is ###ier?

this is what i was going to get at. at the end of the day unless you are getting the CORE or the PRO its about a $500 gun.

ive got both, honestly i never shoot the sig, only because mine is a 1989 with a high round count, its my one safe queen take her out occasionally but thats it.
the M&P i like, and im very happy with it. one thing ive got to say is i hate the shape of the trigger, i put in a full Apex tactical aluminum SRT trigger kit, wasnt cheap but was wort it.
if i end up getting the m&p40c im going to throw in the apex plastic trigger kit, non SRT just the trigger replacement.

after the trigger i put in the m&p, i honestly dont know which one i like more, the P226 or the M&P..
 
If you want a gun, one that you'll run hard and that will impress you with it's reliability, durability, shootability and ruggedness get the M&P - if you're going to use it as man jewellery the Sig will work better.

Unless things have drastically changed, I routinely see Sig P226s in their standard configuration, sometimes with night sights, going for 1000 bucks and M&Ps going around 650 to 700. That's 30% to 35% of a price difference, not 50% like has been claimed.

I paid full retail for my MK25. I wanted the short extractor, the coolness of the MK25, the three Mec-Gar magazines, and the night sights.
It's likely that the M&P is the better value the same way a 3-series is a better value than a 5-series, but I don't think it's a better gun. The Sigs have proven extremely accurate, easy to maintain, etc.
I'll give it to S&W though; they actually have a somewhat usable warranty in Canada whereas Sig likely does not.

I've never handled the M&P but apparently it's a great choice ergonomics wise, lots of converted Glock owners.

I've never used my Sigs as man jewelry. They are aesthetically beautiful but they've never skipped a beat. I'd put its ruggedness, durability, reliability whatever right with the M&P, if not more real-world proven.
 
Get a sig!!!! If you can afford it get an elite. Srt already in, night sights in and great beaver tail for positive engagement. I wouldn't get the mk25. Yes cool factor and all but elite has all. Runs like a champ. Ran through 3 courses with an elite probably 3000 rounds in rain and mud. Not one issue.

If you decide to go with an m&p get an apex trigger installed in it.
 
I still own my P226R Elite Enhanced (with SRT and E2 grips) and sold my MP Core Pro 5" with the Apex Competition kit and Apex RAM. Heck I even sold my Walther PPQ. That should pretty much sum it up for you.

IMO Sig - Unless you can't get over the DA/SA.
