I was at the range Saturday shooting my S&W Model 19-5 when the lever that releases the cylinder went missing. There is still a threaded post sticking out so it can still be used but I do want to replace it if I can't find it. I'm going back out with a friend who has a high quality metal detector to try to find the lever. Question: Does the lever just screw onto the post somehow, or is there another part needed to fasten it on?

Ditto on the screw but the second I read your post I had to smile. I don’t think I would waste my time looking for it at a range. Especially with a metal detector. Unless you happen to have a market for 600 million spent 22 shell casings. Best to call MD Charlton or Western Gun Parts and have one of them send you a new one. Either of these outfits will have the 2 parts in stock and it probably won’t be more than $30 bux. Rod

Probably a good idea not to waste too much time looking, but I lost the knurled knob off the end of the ejector rod of my Colt Python and when I went back to the range to look for it, one of the old time members said another member had found it and put me in touch with the fellow. I got it back and put it on with Locktite. So you never know.

Instead of a metal detector, how about a good powerful magnet. It will pick up the steel parts of your revolver, but leave the .22 brass alone (unlike the metal detector). Only problem is if you have a lot of steel cased 7.62X39 cases lying around at your range.
