For those of you that have used handguns from the performance center,do you see noticeable differences in the guns?I am considering a 686 Competitor from the performance center, and am wondering if it will offer any significant advantages over a standard 686.

I have a PC 627 V-Comp. 'm no expert but this feels superb to me. I've had others shoot it that are more experienced and they all come out of the experience smiling. I'm planning to change my sights and maybe get other work done but this gun of mine is something to be proud of. I have several different grips and have really liked the Jerry Miceluk's I got most recently. Those grips look simple but they automatically put my hands where jerry recommends and his advice is good enough for me. My shooting even with full .357 loads improved with his grips. The gun is heavy but then most good guns are. The accuracy is awesome.

I happened to see a set of videos taken at the Performance Center. What I saw in those clips told me that I wanted a product produced by those people. Every important operation is handled by a person with care and pride. Not much later I ordered my PC 627. I watched better shooters than me use it to put several rounds through the same two or three holes that almost over lapped. That was when I know my money was well spent.

Don't believe it, there is still lots of room for improvement with Performance Center guns. Do yourself a favor by buying a decent, used, older model revolver, spend some money on the forged parts and get someone competent to do what S & W should be offering in the first place!

Myself and Ruger22 have actually decided to purchase a pair of Freedom Arms 97s in 357.We both find that we end up shooting all revolvers single action anyways,so why not just go with a single action.

686 PowerPort.

My S&W Performance Center 686 PowerPort started out as a concept gun that turned into a win for them. They made a bunch of them, stopped making them, brought them back as a catalogue item, discontinued them again, then used the experience to adapt that winning formula to other revolvers.
Mine is an early generation. The trigger is smoother than standard and the other features just add to the pile.
