Hi guys.

I have someone who would like to sell a complete package to me, but I'm not sure what the gun is, how good it is, and if I need all the gear. Here is the list:

• S&W model 19, 357/38 cal, Packmayr grips, trigger job with double action trigger staging device, Bill Davis custom model sighting system with adjusting tool;
• Pistol storage box;
• 12 Dade speed loaders;
• Shoemaker open front holster and belt, 3 H-K-S speed loader pouches, 6 cartridge loops and ear defenders hook;
• Trophy equipment/ammo box with speed loader recharging system

I have been advised to use Comp III speed loaders and the holster and belt are leather with old style leather speed loader holsters with leather straps and snaps on them. I think I would rather by just a gun and get my own gear. What kind of money do you guys think I should pay for such a rig??

Somewhere between 500$ to 1000$ depending the gun condition for the hole package. For the equipement it's not more than 200$. so 450$ for the gun and 150$ for the equipment.

So $1200 is a little rich! :eek:

Thought I bought a 686 off this group yesterday but the guy backed out and sold it local. He apparently got offered more money so he bailed. :mad: Now I'm back to square one. Think I'll stick to IPSC for now. It's getting a little complicated. :(

Old

That stuff is old 70's - 80's era kit. It may be in good shape since light loads are the norm but IMHO, too much $$$.... per last post, $600 would be more reasonable but it is all subjective ie. my car is worth tons cuz I did this and that to it... blah blah blah. :rolleyes:

For that money, you are better off with a stock 686/586 and get trigger job and front patridge site and some newer rig ie safariland w/ Comp III's.

Ppc

For the kind of money you`re talking you should be able to find a custom PPC revolver, heavy barrel, witchita rib, 4 position rear sight, action job etc. These pieces are out there you just have to find them. Try the wanted column on the CPCA site.

Good luck

I bought a 686 medium frame distinguished gun yesterday afternoon that I can use for PPC for now. I also bought a gunfighter style belt, a new leather holster, two speed loader holders and 3 comp III speed loaders. The guy threw in 200 rounds of 38 special handloads, about 400 brass in caseguard cases, a case and a lock. :)

I had it out shooting by 6:30PM and burned through 150 rounds pretty quick. :)
