Ok, i'm starting to get a little p. o. 'd.........
I bought a brand spankin' new S&W 22A from a local shop, it was a dud right from the get go, 1 in 8 or so FTF or Fail to eject, really a piece.......
After around 1000 rds, taking into account a break in, i am a really patient guy, i told the shop that i wanted to send it back for repair......
I spent my hard earned money trying this peice out, EVERY kind of ammo, hours cleaning after every shooting outing...... my kids wouldn't even touch it.....
I sent it in in March, it's now July........
I'd really like my gun back, i phoned the shop last month, and was told that when it was back, they'd call me........ almost a bit rudely.......
How much flack should i kick up now...... i'm pretty much at the end of my patience........
As far as i'm concerned, it should have been replaced, fixed, or something by now... as it was bad right out of the box.........
Rob

I have to ask and play devils advocate.

Were you using good quality ammo? Or was it WalMart/CTC Federal - Winchester - etc.

Did you try CCI Blazer, Federal Gold Medal, CCI Green Tag, Eley?

RePete.

Find out where the sent it for warranty. Chances are it was MD Charlton in Saanichton BC. They are a bit slow in the turnaround process but it may be worthwhile to give them a call in case it sat in the local shop instead of being forwarded in a timely manner.
Cheers
dB:)

I tried EVERY type of ammo.....
American Eagle, Winchester, CCI....
MY thought is that a $422 S&W shouldn't be ammo picky.......
The local shop is great, they sent it out the next day......
I'm pretty pissed either with the distributor that they sent it back to, or S&W repair center.......
4months, a third of a year already without a gun that was purchased new, and problems from the start........
I had wanted a second .22 for my kids to enjoy and shoot at the range.......
Rob

As far as I know, S&W is somewhat busy fixing broken P22's...

On a more positive note, you could try calling S&W down in the states and see if you can find any information from them.

I had the same problem with a new 22A. Sent it to MD Charlton for repairs. Waited 3 months and called. They said it would be another 2-3 months!!!

Right on! Smith & Wesson get a #### partner for their business:eek:

Call S&W in the states and complain. They apparently have an excellent warrenty service dept. in the states and should light a fire under the ass of there Canadian partner.

Well,i'm waiting for the shop to call me back, i told them it's not their fault, but i'm pissed off about the warranty service on a brand new gun.....

From what I have read on the S&W forum, S&W generally turns there stuff around within 3 weeks, so I would be trying to light a fire under someone's ASS if I had to wait since March for warranty work.

AAARGGHHHH!!!!!!!
After waiting pretty patiently for around 4 mos, i finally got it back last week, went to the range today, fired around 10 mags full, every mag except 1 had at least 1 light strike(FTF) that i had to pull out with my pocket knife. Using Federal bulk. Asked at the counter what ammo to try, bought a $5+ box of CCI stingers, 3FTF's!!!
Looking at the repair slip, they replaced the slide insert if i remember correctly....
Needless to say, this time i'm really PissED!!
Having to call the owner tomorrow to find out what can be done......
The counter staff said i'd have to send it back for repair, but since it hasn't been anywhere near good from new, i'm asking for my money back, or a brand new gun.
GRRRRRRRRRR.........

Oh.......
I'm also pretty put out that i've put through around 1000 rounds of ammo at my expense trying to break it in, with no result and no enjoyment from the gun......
Any suggestions on compensation??
Rob

I reccomend trying to get them to replace the gun with a different one. The local Wholesale wanted nothing to do with me and taking back my pos P22 until I said that I wanted to exchange it with a Ruger 22/45. Don't back down, ask for a manager if you need to.

K- I phoned this morning and asked for the owner/manager to phone me.
An employee phoned me back and told me that all they could do was send it in again for repair. I told him that i would contact S&W myself and go up one side and down another but in hindsight.......
I called the shop and left a message for the owner/manager to call me.
Bottom line, they sold me a defective product, and they are going to have to deal with it. I WILL NOT SEND IT FOR REPAIR.........
Damn it, i'm mad.........

Repair is a warrenty issue, your local shop can not touch it, nor should they. They have, by offering to send it for repair, fullfilled thier obligation to you as the seller. You, as the buyer have a couple of choices, 1. contact S & W in writting and inform them of your displeasure and what do they suggest you do, 2. allow the seller to sent it for repair for you. 3. never buy from that seller again and never buy a Smith and wesson again and let this be a life lesson!

Sorry, i don't agree at all. I bought a defective product, brand new, i allowed it to be sent in for repair with a 3month wait. I am told that i have to wait for it to be sent in for repair again. That is unacceptable. I want a new product, or my money back.
When i buy a defective product anywhere else, it is replaced or refunded, not sent in for a repair taking months.
As far as i'm concerned, it should have been replaced the first time.

If I may ask, what shop did you buy it at? I would be willing to take a look at it for you but the problem is, undoing a screw voids any existing warranty you have! Can you explain to me in more detail what is happening?

Scott

I think the slide is hanging up on the paint on the gun.
I'll see how i make out with the shop tomorrow, thanks Scott!!
