I've developed an interest in revolvers in general lately and S&W in particular (mostly because I like the looks and don't want to spend the big bucks on a Colt
). I've got a 1983 586 no dash and a 1956 K-38 target masterpiece so far. I'm thinking the next step might be a Model 27. Any ideas what a decent condition "shooter " (slight bluing wear at the muzzle ...bit of a drag line) should go for? I'm not looking for collector grade with the box, tools etc.
There is a 27-2 on the EE at $1200 but that seems high compared to what my other two were bought for (600-700 range). Is a 27 100% more desirable than my other guns? Is that a unreasonable price or about what they are worth these days? I like the idea of a classic gun but might I not be better off to buy a new 627PC for a couple of hundred more?
Life would be easier here in Canada if we had an auction site like Gunbroker where you could research past sales and get a good feel for fair market value
