S&W sigma?

I was under the impression that they were prohib, until I saw the .40SW that Armco is selling as used right now.

It turns out that pre-1999, the SW Sigma was made with a 4.5" barrel. After 1999, they cut it down to just over 101mm.

Brownells lists a 4.5" barrel for post-1999 Sigma's as well.

Think of the Sigma as a beta test for the M&P, not a really successful one either, guys who've owned them say they're OK, they just don't set the world on fire. You're better off with a Glock or an M&P.

I don't understand why S&W continues to make them.

And I really don't understand why the Afganistan police pistol contracts have been broken up, with some of them getting Beretta, some S&W Sigma, some Glock 19, some S&W M&P9...

I don't get it.

They are basiclly a glock, but the trigger is worse. I'd take one if you gave it to me or sold it to me dirt cheap. Nothing really wrong with them. S&W got sued for patent infingment by glock and lost i believe. I've shot 'em, just a gun.

It's called politics. Gotta spread the money around to all the various coalition members. Never mind the logistical nightmare it will cause for the end user:eek:

I had two of them in 40 and 9, very good guns, but as all plastics it's top heavy and snapy in 40 caliber because of light frame
the rest is just another reliable and accurate S&W ... as said before this pistol is made internally as a Glock copy, but the Sigma grip & angle it's a lot better then Glock

They are nicknamed the Smegma for a reason. I also do not understand why S&W still makes them now that they are making the much better M&P. For that matter, why are they still making SW99s?
