I just received my first S&W revolver (625) and it looks like it has been fired. It has drag marks on the cylinder, powder/blast marks around the forcing cone and firing pin.
My question is does S&W test fire their guns? As there is no evidence of in the packing info ie: casings or targets. It was purchased from a reputable dealer (also a sponsor) so I don't think it is a scam or anything but just want to hear from other S&W wheelgun owners.

I believe ALL pistols/revolvers which are sold in the US are test fired (you'll notice that fancy little envelope with the piece of spent brass inside).

Also, most reputable gun makers will test fire (and sometimes sight in) the gun as well.

If you get the casing or not depends on the maker - some states require a casing to register (don't ask why,it's gun control and therefore exempt from logic) so some makers include them with every gun, others only provide it where required.
