S&W warranty / service work?

On the Smith and Wesson forum I read of people returning their new S&W's to the factory if anything is wrong with them and receiving excellent service.
Do we have that option in Canada with either a new gun or later models that S&W warranties for life in the States.
ie Is there a distributor or dealer that can return them to the factory or would the whole export/import process be necessary?

MD Charlton in Victoria is the Western Canada S&W warranty rep. I believe Wortner's in Ontario services Eastern Canada. I don't think you want to go through the hassle of sending the gun to the USA.

Yup, there are two warranty centers that do work on bahalf of S&W right here in Canada, one in BC and one in Chatham, Ontario, called Wortner Gun Works.

No-dash and -1 model 586s needed warranty work from the factory because of a defective breech-face/firing pin fitting which caused the cylinder to bind. I bought a used 586 'bout a year ago which hadn't had the upgrade done, I sent it to Wortner's, all I paid for was shipping.

Lucky for me I live about a 5 min drive from his shop. He put a slick distinguished tune on my S&W Model 57 .41 Mag and I also have a 586 that was done there, too. It's worth it.

I've had repairs done by them on two 686's after a local 'smith bubba'd them. They did quality work with a pretty fast turnaround time and the cost was lower than the local 'smith even with shipping included. I can highly recommend M D Charlton!

When I bought my 5-screw K-38, it had a bubba'd double action sear, which caused it to bind in double action. I sent it off to M.D. Charlton and not only did they fix it, but they gave it an excellent action job as well. Total cost was around $140 and turnaround was about 2 weeks from me shipping it to getting it back.

I highly recommend them for any S&W work.
