I have been doing some internet research into getting a S&W686. Ellwood Epps had the 6" version for $799 but they are sold out (per their website). Target Sports is advertising the 5" version for $850. Only 100 made for Canada per their site. The shorter, but still legal, barrel length is interesting. I am not sure if these are good prices but S&W shows them as US$830 list price on their site. I also checked out the EE - I saw a nice looking 6" 686 for $650. I would have thought a used gun would have been a little cheaper than that but what do I know.

I got a 686-5 7 shot with the unfluted cylinder from The Shooting Edge for $799 for my wife to shoot 38SP loads. While its not a PC 627 it certainly is a nice 686. As far as 10 shot 617's I haven't had a lot of luck. There are a few around that I have been quoted $850 to $900+ for. It seems a bit on the high side. These were probably bought when the dollar wasn't doing as well as it is now, were priced at that level, and now seem even more expensive considering the close to even dollar.
 
Dante sports in Montreal has a 617-10 in stock. I think it was 830 give or take, but you have to pay 2 taxes......:mad:
