Hello,

Just wondering at what distance to zero the rifle with BUIS, I tried 25m zero but was over a foot high at a 100m. Appreciate any input.

I think the 50/200 yard zero (Zeroed at 200) is probably the best 'overall' use for iron sights. Although for backups with a dedicated optic I'm not against doing a 100 yard zero for the irons.

I still think a 50/200 is better though! But that's just my opinion! :D

I zero my Bushmaster at 50 m, and my Colt at 100. Why?

The Bushie has a 16" bbl, a red dot sight, and is used for 3 Gun, while the Colt has a 20" bbl, carry handle sights (or a 4x scope) and is used for Service Rifle.

Different uses, different zeros.

FWIW, the US Army uses the 25m zero with their M4 carbines (14.5" bbl) and Aimpoint CCO red dot sights. I believe they zero the BUIS at the same distance.

Thanks for the repla. , the scoped ar is zeroed at a hundred, and my last ar that had a carry handle was zeroed for 50/200. I guess what I’m really asking is what’s difference in zeros and trajectory between a zero with a carry handle and BUIS. The 50/ 200 zero requires an adjustment of the carry handle, the 25/300 requires the carry handle to be dialed down a couple clicks then brought back up to 300m mark after zeroing. The sa 20 BUIS can not be adjusted like a carry handle so will these zeros works on BUIS?

Not to muddy the water any more then it is , but here's some light reading on fixed AR sights , What , it might be helpful .
It is a good read .

search for RIBZ. If you don't go that route it still provides the best resource for understanding zero's and iron sights.

Thanks gents, was able to reach site. I did read through similar articles when I got my first ar with a carry handle, but it was good refresher. My range is metric so I’ll start with 50m zero and see what happens.

At what distance will you be shooting it mostly? That should tell you where to zero it.

thats what i've been told as well.

50/200 is like +/- 1-2" along the range of zero.
