SA-22 worth the price?

I picked up an old Belgian made pre- sa-22 (made in the teens) quite a few years ago for 100$. Really accurate, reliable and convenient with the takedown. Used to carry it in my pack on the snowmobile for ptarmigan when I lived up north. Would eat any ammo I dumped in it. Don’t really remember any jams in the 1000s of rounds through it.
I don’t think I would pay 800 for one tho...
I also had the norinco one like above, but sold it since it was just not the real deal. They seem plentiful right now and I seen them at crappy tire for around 150 locally

It is definitely a premium priced rifle. I bought one of the cheap Norc ones and loved it so much I bought the original too and there is a world of difference between the two.
If you appreciate good quality and don't mind spending the extra money then get the SA22.

I have an 68 Belgian made and I enjoy it very much. It's accurate, reliable and is a lot of fun to shoot. The feel so fine and almost elegant in your hands. Pricey yes, I don't have $800 into mine, but I would certainly make the same investment again.

So does branding...throw that Browning label on anything and boom, expensive lol.
The Nork version of these are NOS from the late 80's early 90's, production was not bad then, better then the stuff the put out today. I got 3 of them for about 1/3 the cost of a new Browning. 1 for irons, 1 for a scope, and one for spare parts. The cost of a Browning bolt is more then the entire Nork rifle. They don't look too bad outside, and the bolt at least is very cleanly machined. I was impressed enough with the fit/finish/function of the first one that I bought 2 more. The biggest issue is he heavy cosmo, complete tear down is required to clean and lube.

picked up the Browning for 400 new in box 4 years ago, real sweek rifle, its been packed away for the grandson to have on his 10th birthday, he will be just right to shoot then. not sure I would pay 800 for one but someone will
The fact that the cheaper norinco versions of the browning work is a testament to Brownings design as even a cruder version will function ,that said there is no comparison of the Browning version to the norinco.Basicaly it's a champagne to beer comparison as both will get you drunk��
I have had several, kind of a finicky design IMHO (ie. complicated) but they are reliable, very accurate and fun. The one Norc version I had was not even close, I wouldn’t waste my money on the Norc, better to save for a while and get the real thing.
