SA rear sight in Norinco M305

For the life of me can't get my Springfield rear sight into the M305.

Everything is lubed. Tried filing the top of the cover.

No matter what I do the elevation adjustment won't budge an extra 1/4 inch or so (so its not totally flush). At that point the sight function but there is still an overhang. Any tips on squaring it up?

Obviously the sight works flawlessly when its not in the pocket on the receiver.

Sounds like your rear sight pocket may be out of spec.

A Garand sight worked for me.

I got an M1 Garand rear sight from Marsbar and put it into my Norky
(I'm an 'MOA' fan). It was a 'drop-in' install.

Just put in a complete rear sight from an SAI socom. Fit like a glove in my norinco.
