Good day all
I have been invited to a Deer Hunt next yr and I'm looking for your recommendations on Semi Auto rifles . Not sure what caliber but thinking 270, 30 06.

Unless you folk can recommend a bolt action that has reasonable recoil .

Thanks

A semi auto won't make a huge difference recoil wise over a bolt action and tend to be heavier.

A lightweight bolt action in 243 or 7/08 would be easy to carry, very easy to shoot and effective on deer. The fellow in our camp uses a 243 with 100gr Partitions. Perfect deer combo.

Benelli R1 in 308 is $999 here. Pretty nice guns.

If you are recoil shy, a nice bolt gun in 6.5x55 will work well.

If you can't make up your mined on calaber pick up a T/C encore and get a couple barrels
Hard to go wrong with a 30-06,270,308,6.5x55 or 243 all are grate hunting rounds rounds and reasonable recoil

I've heard of individuals using an SKS for deer. PPU makes some nice hunting appropriate ammunition for x39.

If you're looking at keeping your budget low, look no further.
