Sharptail and I had the good fortune of being able to organise a short pheasant hunt in Southern Alberta this year. My daughter was sick and had to be shuttled to doctors so, by the time it was all good, we had only 2 days in the field. Both days were characterized by what I would call gale force winds (gusting to 90 kph), so the birds were sitting hard and the dog had a real hard time picking up scents. Even so, we came home with 4 birds for 2 guys over 2 days - we were very happy with that result under the circumstances.
There were plenty of humorous moments. When we first arrived, we found this fence post with somebody's lost and found WIN card. If you lost your card on the Millicent Buck for Wildlife range, you know where to find it!
We were both carrying 12 gauge, SXS boxlocks pictured here with the first of the 4 #### pheasant we took.
Definitely would have been better without the wind and certainly would have enjoyed a longer hunt, but it was a great time anyway and we were very pleased with the bag, all things considered.
