Sabot/Bullet combo's?

Would you use the same sabot and bullet combo that you use for deer on bigger game animals? For instance would you continue to use the 240 grain Hornady XTP that you've shot Whitetails with for black bear or Elk? Curious to hear your answers. For all you patch and ball shooters would you switch to something like a Buffalo bullet?

I would use my combo of a 300 gr XTP in a sabot ( Savage inline ) on any N.A game animal within reasonable ranges. A good solid hit will put them down. This load has also been used by friends with great success. In the past I have used buffalo bullets etc.. Yes they are effective but I have never got the same accuracy as with my XTP's.

If ranges are going to be under 100m I might use the lead but if you may be shooting beyond I'd go with the Sabot set up.

Note: This is from my experience with inlines and not tradtional style BP guns

Try to find the black sabots they are the strongest they were all I could use in my savage with smokeless. and gave the best accuracy I used 300gr hornady hollow point .452 pistol bullets and cast 255gr for plinking

i'd go after any game in north america with my 300 gr shockwaves as long as its within my "comfort zone"
