Remington rolling block in 50/70. Has anyone here tried using 458 bullets in a sabot similar the Savage ML10? My bore slugs .513 (sort of) A 458 Berrys plated in a black sabot seems to fit nicely. Was going to try it but thought I'd see what others experience (if any) was. Thanks for now.

It should work, I am thinking. wouldn't be any different than a muzzleloader round, other than you can precharge
your loads at home before you even go to the range.
There was a thing back in the 80's called "accelerators" where a .223 diameter bullet was put in a sabot and loaded into a 30-06,
308, or 30-30.
They really whistled right along: over 4000fps if memory serves

Issue comes in at twist rate shorter projectiles might work. Most .45 rifle bores are faster twist then .50 rifles from the black powder era.
