Wolverine finally got a shipment of Sabre Defense rifles in! They received them in 11.5", 14.5", and 16" barrels, all chambered in 5.56mm, chrome lined bores, and collapsable stocks. What do you guys think of Sabre and is it worth the hefty price tag ($1,995)?

The only thing I know about Sabre ARs is from reading Pat Sweeney's AR books but they are from Sabre USA... and they got a good review (Mas Ayoob signature model..).

What do I think about the hefty price tag? Without knowing how much they're good or not, to me 2000$ for an out of the box plain AR is too much. You can get a great Stag or Armalite for 1300$-1500$ and spend the rest on ammo/optics.

BTW, if some of you guys got your hands on the new kid on the block, a review would be appreciated...

I was a little disappointed by the price.
A Rifle that lists for $1200 USD.... That doesn't actually come from the US.
We all hear the song and dance about the high costs getting AR's out of the US.
But these are not from the hole
So to me...
$2K seems high......

and...if you are bringing in something completely new...why not bring in something NEW. All they have is the same old - same old. Bring in the 7.62x39 or the 6.5 Gendel, The M5 Tactical or that fantastic Sabre SPR.

Anyway...dosen't matter. Wouldn't want to order something for this F'N company anyway...........

6.5 Gendel would be the right choice for me, if I was going to spend $2000, it better have a gas piston instead of the conventional gas tube!...

11.5 and 14.5, for $1995:eek:, Is there any other choice? Unless you settle for a used one on EE. I guess they have the buyers by the balls

I think The Shooting Edge is getting a shipment of Sabre Rifles and they are going to be $1500. It isn't confirmed that they are sabre but J.R. from TSE said they will be getting their first shipment of UK rifles in a month (all barrel sizes included) and they will only be $1500. Is there another AR company in the UK? If the ones arriving in a month at TSE are indeed Sabre why are they $500 less than Wolverine's price?

Kind of ironic, getting Ar's from the island of ban everything.:confused:

Hold of a min. To all #####ing about the price of the Sabre Defense AR.

Lets see.

You get

* Mil-B-1159F Vandium Alloy
* Gov’t Profile
* 1:7 Twist
* M4 Feed Ramps
* Threaded Flash Hiders
* Chrome Lined
* 5.56 Chamber
* Collapsible Stock

Try getting those features our of the US. The State Department has shut the door I for one I'm very happy there Sabre guns are here and more will come in the future. Pay a little more now and dream on in the future should the supply dry out.

At a time when an Armalite can cost you ~1050$ new, this rifle better perform fantastic fellatio to justify the extra thousand dollars.

Where are you getting you're info? The only info I can find on the net relates to the US arm of the company.

At any rate, that price may be competitive in Europe but I don't think that it will do well here. I don't need a collapsible stock if it's going to cost me $800. As for the barrel, a quick trip to the 'smith will sort that out for very little coin. If they sell individual components than I may interested in the prices for their barrels alone.

Is this the one??

THese are manufactured in the UK by Sabre - I won't automatically assume the spec is the same as the US ones made by Sabre..

It would be interesting to know if their specs is the same as their american counterpart.

Are they entirely made in the UK?

.

With Norc and Oly arms at one end(worst ) and lmt and Colt(best) at the other end of the spectrum ,where does Sabre fit in ??? Are they better than a Stag but not as good as LMT ???

Who says Stag is better than LMT? I think that Stag does some things better than LMT, and vice versa.

Generally though, I'd say that people rate the U.S. Sabre rifles quite highly. They also use some of the best barrel steel out there.

SWAT Magazine seems to be a strong advocate of Sabre Defense products. Their reviews are always favorable and they never question the $2000 price tag for the ARs.

Here is a summary from the May 2007 issue:

Sabre Defence makes quality products
and, as a result, they are not cheap. Let
me clarify that: Sabre Defence rifles and
carbines are not cheaply made, so they
don’t sell for a cheap price. That makes
sense to me. The XR15A3-M4 Tactical
Carbine retails for $2,089.99 and comes
with two 30-round magazines. Other
Sabre Defence firearms sell for more or
less than that, depending on the features
one wants.
