Hey boys and girls,

I know there are really only two prominent OpRod Guides available right now. Both are match grade and are made from one piece.

The Sadlack is made of 8620 Tool Steel and then Parkerized. Price is $59.95.

The Marstar is made of Stainless Steel. Price is $39.95

Is the Sadlack worth the extra $20?

I always go for the lowest price, i got a full lenght spring return guide rod for my 45, did not get the prieum one, works just fine

the marstar is sized to fit a norc spring....... the sadlak to fit a usgi spring or wolf aftermarket spring.......
i've used both with thier appropriate springs....... and notice no difference at the range with that particular rifle.
matched with the right spring, both these rods smoothen up the action considerably.
IMHO buy which ever one is availlable at the time you are shopping for one. if both are availlable...... and a g.i or wolf spring is availlable..... it comes down to whether you want the more expensive one or not. hehehehe

get what i'm tryin to say :D

i can ut it in simple terms, whats the difference between a 100 dollar date and a 1000 dollar date>>> answer, your broker i came up with that one a couple years ago lol

No doubt the Sadlak is a great piece of gear....

The Marstar guide is made from ONE piece as well. You see back in the day about 25 years ago, we tried making them ourselves without enduring (read: they fell apart) success for a super cheap price (Tim Horton's double-double to my welding buddy). Then Sproingfield Armory versions welded a bunch up and they broke right at the welds, so much so that I had adopted an SOP (Standard Operation Procedure) to carry a spare stamped steel guide in my shooting rucksack to back up my buddies with broken guides from their M1A's.

Buy American $ 59 plus plus or buy from Marstar $ 40 plus ? Me; I went the Marstar route. :nest:

My only concern (25 years later) is the manufacturing process; welding or CNC milling. This latest technology evens the playing field and brings the price down while allowing Johnone to provide goods to us and still make a profit. That's business!! :D

I ordered marstar's one march 6th and I think they ignored my order
As stated in another thread they did not contact nor took my money
PLEASE TAKE MY MONEY!!!

I've been on and off the phone with Frank at marstar frequently over the past 3 weeks as we've had much business to discuss. I found it easy as pie to get them on the phone providing i heed the "hours of operation" notice listed on thier contact page of the website.

remember call them on ontario time..... it's toll free
AND don't call them between 11:45 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. ontario time as they shut down for lunch.... Johnone is a pretty cool boss eh?

I believe it's the same one marstar carries...... unless the mysterious machinist who made those AKM stocks in saskatchewan is makin them now for marstar...... dunno. I have a rooster one direct from rooster(lazlo) and a marstar one..... they appear identical in every way right down to the tool marks.
