Hey everyone I was look at the Sadlak bits for cleaning my gas cylinder on my M1A but was wondering if and of you would know if regular drill bit would work just fine.

or is there something different about the sadlak tools besides the handles. and if drill bits would work fine what sizes?

Thank you.

Probably nothing more. I'm not home to measure.
Did you try to google: Cleaning the M14 gas system ?
I have a pdf on this topic.

I think i can help . you need aircraft drill bits as follows for USGI Gas CYLINDERS ONLY NOT NORINCO !!!!!!! Inside piston body number P (.323 inch dia ) inside piston shank Number15 (.180 inch dia ) and piston gas port number 26 (.147 inch dia ) That is from the U.S. 30 caliber service rifle shop manual from Jerry Kuhnhausen . All you need to know is in this great book.

well I've had a m14 or clone for over 30 years and NEVER needed one yet- and believe me i'm not easy on guns- the drill bits that you get at ANY hardware store will do - these are HAND TWIST ONLY- you're removing CARBON, not STEEL - you needn't be that fussy- if it's THAT dirty, might be time to pull the gas assembly and dunk it in some sort of bath- it's more a case of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"
