Is the performance difference between the steel and Aluminum versions of the Sadlak mounts worth the difference in price between the two?

Also: What is the best way to get one of these mounts? Fabsports does not have stock, so is exporting them from the states a viable option? I know that there are issues with M-14 parts, but as this is useable on an M1A, maybe they are excluded. I know Brownells carries their stuff.

It would definitely be problematic getting them out of the states since, as far as I know, they are over $100. I'd e-mail Fabsports and ask when they'll be getting their next shipment in.

It all depends on what you want to do with your rifle. I was on the hunt not to long ago with the same questions. After tring a friends Sadlak mount with optic combo I found that if there wasn't a cheek rest on it I would have a hell of a time tring to position my big head. Then I tried the Smith mount it was better but I also enjoy shooting with my iron's and the U channel on this mount makes for a verry limited field of view. So I settled on the ARMS 18 mount works great and they ship to Canada with out the headaches of the border bs. Never the less all three of these mounts are top notch in my book's and realy depends on what you plan to use your rifle for.

Sadlak

Sadlak steel mounts are the preferred choice by the Amerikan military, thats why they are always out of stock.
Mike was going to send me one in Kanada but while waiting for production to catch up Fabrice made a deal with Mike to be the Kanadian distributor so he sent it to Fabrice and I got it from him.
Patience - Order from Fabsports and wait -
The steel airborne mount is the best buy -
If you're not worried about stacking tolerances the aluminum is ok also.

I got my Sadlak from Brownells. They guy on the phone said it wasn't a firearm part so the $100 limit didn't apply. He did have to check with his supervisor to make sure though .....

Give them a call. If the answer is no, call back and speak to someone else.

I bought the Titanium Sadlak mount this summer from Brownells, I didn't have a problem with shipping as it's not a firearm part.

My bad, that's good to know.

I would have thought the state department would consider it a firearm part and it would be subject to the $100 limit.
