Sadlak Mnt+Unitizing=Hangaurd probs

So I just mounted my new Sadlak mount on my unitized Shorty. Hmm hand-guard won't fit in under the mount and behind the collar on the gas block... any suggestions?

Thinking about taking a UTG Tri-rail Hand-Guard and milling off the top row of mounts and shortening it to fit. Because of the way the bands attach to the barrel it would hold it on there really solidly. BUT, do those under barrel bands/clamps effect accuracy?

What if one were to drill into the stock at the same location where the utg bolts are, place some steel thread inserts in, and attach that way?

Problem being that the both use the side wall screw whole for retention of the rail. I don't know if just having the 2 bands underneath will be enough to keep the rail from moving over time and use. Maybe some pic's might help us visualize the issue that you are having.

If you loosen off the gas assembly you should be able to slide it under the mount, then re install gas assembly with HG in place, or take a file and make it fit....

I'm not totally following the problem here but it has been a long couple weeks hehehe.
the nose end of the utg that mates to the gas band of the gas system, is not a mounting point, it's merely an interface. The gas band tabs for the handguard can be tightened or loosened but it is recommended to do this with them red hot or at least annealed. This is essential with USGI gas bands.... chinese handgaurd tabs are slightly easier to bend without snapping.

I kinda got that you whaer having trouble getting the handguard on with your scope mount in place. loosen the gas system and slide it forward, slide the rear end of the handguard under the monut and snap it in place, then slide your gas system back over the handguard's forward tab and tighten her up. If you have play in the handguard tabs of the gas band, first see if you have more gap on one side than the other between stock and handguard and then tighten the side with the least gap, evenining out the stock to handguard gap , 1/16 is preffered. tighten or loosen the tabs as required but the more you bend them....... the higher risk of cracken em off, so do it with the least amount of bending and use heat.
