I would like to parkerize the barrel on my Armi Jagger AP74 and short of sand blasting, I have no other idea on how to remove the original blueing.
I'd like to know what is the best way to do so:confused:

Sand paper, the type that is on a roll with a cloth backing, likely 400 grit to start. Bead blasting will work provided you have the right size bead. If your gun is in very nice shape you may want to start with 800 grit as 400 may remove too much steel from the finnish

I've only used some birchwood cassey blue-remover and it worked well, but apparently CLR and naval jelly work too.

Anything that removes rust.

Buy a good set of gloves and protective eye wear. And while your in Home Hardware pick up small corks, two plastic flower planters, (long shallow kind), and a jug of muriatic acid.

Take the gun apart, and remove all grease. Put one cork in the end of the barrel and fill it with water. Squeeze the other cork in the other end, (I've only done 30 cal riles so I don't know if there are 22 cal ones - if not use modelling clay to seal barrel) Once the barrel seals are water tight, put on the gloves and glasses and gently place the gun parts in the acid in one of the flower planters. It should remove the bluing in seconds, maybe a minute or two tops.
Take the part out with a PAIR of LONG PLIERS and gently place in the other planter filled with water.

I've seen bluing come off in seconds and the longest has been 5 minutes or so.

Any type of acid will remove the blueing. I'm told that vinegar works quite well, just takes longer. CLR is a beast! It will strip the blueing almost immediately. All of these suggestions above are some form of acid. Good luck and take safety measures.

I hope you're not paying somebody. It'll cost morethan the rifle is worth. In any case, there's no need to remove the bluing if you're going to parkerize. The bluing will come off in the first bath.
"...use modelling clay..." Tap a cast .22 cal bullet into the muzzle and put an empty case in the chamber.
