I'm thinking of purchasing a stainless steel rifle (receiver, barrel, and trigger guard), but much prefer a blued finish. What is the safest way to coat (or some other process) the gun? I'd prefer a process that doesn't have to heat the metal up too much to avoid softening or warping the metal and would want to mask off the inside of the receiver and the bore. I'd also like to have a soft satin finish, rather than a really coarse matte appearance.
What do I need to know here? Any suggestions as to good Canadian companies that do this kind of work?
