I just bought a 1895 guide gun. Haven't had a chance to fire it yet, but I'm considering removing the safety on it. IMHO, the hammer at half #### has been working great for some 150 years on lever guns, I think that this is a "lawyer safety". Has anyone removed theirs and used the saddle ring replacement? Do you find that the safety is a PITA, or is it a non-issue?
On a side issue, my son was telling me today that it would be really nice if someone came up with a lever action with a transfer bar like the Henry, but where the action could be DA/SA, hing of like a revolver. It would be great for someone in a tight corner. I had never thought of that, but it sure would be a nifty feature on a guide or brush gun.
Oh, and I'd like to know - are the LeverEvolution loads suitable for bear defense?
