Well now I own both. Have same set up on both. And sage wins on accuracy by a touch. Black feather lighter and nicer to handle but ain't no sage for long range shooting. My nm birch stocked Lrb is as good or better than my black feather but epoxidied by me with m14 doc gigs. All have usgi or Sei or sadlak parts, black feather has a different stainless barrel bought used though other guns new barrels. Sage has Sei max pack trigger , black feather has Trw tac rods trigger job and Lrb reciever has Winchester complete tac ord trigger job. Life is good

All three have oprod tabs redone and custom fitted by me and are 18.5 long.

The real test will be to take a few identical rifles, check them out for headspace and barrel indexing, ensure they all have the same trigger pull, put them in the stocks and shoot them with the same ammo under similar conditions. From the shooting bench, prone, bagged or machine rest, using quality match ammo. Let a few different shooters shoot all the rifles. The sights would have to be checked out and ensured all were the same. Level the playing field. I have found some individual Norc's are real shooters with some very minor modifications. I've also shot a few that tested my patience and had me questioning my eye sight.....
However, good on you for comparing the two stocks. Sometimes it is personal preference as to which stock fits better. I'll admit I haven't handled a Sage in years....drooled quite heavily over the few I did get to fondle though....Perhaps one day I will trade up or buy one just cause.

Next up for you to try is a JAE chasis.
Tried many, but for accuracy, there's nothing like it.

+1
I have own sage/usgi/jae and tried archangel and blackfeather and JAE chassis is the best around for precision. people tell the opposit never touch and shoot with one.
the quality of material and assembly is way better,

the barrel whip screw at the very front of the frame

is it absolutely necessary to use it?
I read that some had weird shooting after having tightened the screw

The screw tension is critical - to much is a no no.

There is accuracy difference between almost touching , barely touching , and light tension.

Stiff tension only works with 4 spring ball bearings around the barrel.

For any JAE owners or potential owners, the barrel tensioner is the same and as chopper 1 stated....too much, not enough, different loads, it could take forever.....

Not the same system between jae and sage. And it don't take fore-ever to adjust it.... just adjusting the tension by turning a screw....not the hardest thing.

And the barrel tensioner of the jae is also set and forget. Mine have never moved.

I think it would be hard to argue that JAE and SAGE are the top shelf if building a rig purely for bench/match level shooting.
The sage with a krieger 22" DMR barrel , built right, will keep up all day long with a JAE/DMR rig 4sure.
If it was a which is better argument, there's no winner, in my opinion anyways. The only downside to the current JAE model is what it costs to purchase one LOL

^^ Agree. Just stating that one can tinker forever. Like an adjustable rib on a sporting clays O/U.
Gotta call uncle at some point.

Again, agree, but tinkering can still persist ;)

A bedded usgi stock with a krieger 22 barrel built right would do the same as sage or jae...

And the cost argument is not valid.
armtac sell the sage ebr chassis for 1200$ and it's the crappy folding stock setup not the mod 1.
The JAE can be bought for the same amount of money. 755$ base price at wolverine supplies and you can add any upgrade you want to equal the sage price.

It's not arguing it's a discussion and it's what we do...we talk about specific point so they's no Miss-information.

I always found the fully adjustable telescopic butt stock on the SAGE to be, not crappy.
The Mod 1 always gave me cheek riser problems... is Miss-information cute?

just curious: what didn't you like about the Mission First Tactical Battle Utility Stock again?

The only issue I had was it's added length when collapsed, that and I mistakenly purchased one with a commercial tube...
I really wanted one for a mil-spec tube that would allow me to use other mil-spec butt stocks that I already had.
The MFT is still for sale.
