I found my SKS moved about a 1/4 inch in my ATI Monte Carlo stock. I could slide the rifle back an forth with force while it was in the stock. So, not very good. Especially if I want to make this rifle my shooter.
I was thinking of bedding the back of the stock the end, where the receiver meets the stock. I think it will work, but decided to wait and maybe try another rifle another time and see if that one fits better.
I ended up getting a second hardwood stock and put the rifle in that. I'm not using the rifles original matching stock because I still might need to file the inside of the stock to get the Tapco mag to fit perfectly. So far I haven't needed to shave the magwell, but some range time will tell.
Other than the fitting issue, my only other complaint with the ATI stock was that it is somewhat heavy. After 200 rounds, and no sling, the thing gets a bit weighty. I like the feel of the original stock a bit better.
Before...

After...

The gas system and handguard are Chinese and wood, which I painted black and had used with my ATI stock. The paint started coming off because I didn't seal the finish, but I actually really like the worn look of the stressed paint so I clear coated it and used it with this stock.
