Yep. The CFC is basically calling a Chevrolet Silverado a variant of a Chevy Cavalier because they are made by the same company.

Sarcasm on.

Oh Canada, how I love thee.
:canadaFlag:

Sarcasm off.

I just had a thought. Oh Canada's lyrics. We stand on guard for thee. How are we supposed to stand on guard if we are unarmed??????????????????

X2 I mean, how many interchangeable parts can there be between a rifle/machine gun that shoots 7.62x39 and a shotgun that shoots 12ga??? Maybe a couple of springs and pins??

But that question doesn't matter, because I'm not in charge. ;)

the rules were made up by smart libirals with a butefull idea for a safer place for them to live in,

man my mouth tastes funny after that

There aren't any apart from cosmetic parts, and small portions of the trigger assembly. I've looked into it.

Barrel is obviously totally different, and permanently affixed to the receiver.

Receiver is different.

Bolt is different.

There is no way to make an AK-47 out of anything from a Saiga-12, unless you already have the AK-47's major components. Receiver, Bolt, Barrel.

There you go. Trying to make sense of it again.

To quote an aquantance summing up a recent (US) match on another board...

"Saiga-12s have caught on in both Trooper and Open divisions. I spotted probably around a dozen total. Four of the eight shooters on my squad were using them. MD Arms 20 round drums were also common."

Yep... Saiga's are very popular where they can be had...

You know I just ran across these shotguns and I'm not surprised that the Idiots within the RCMP have branded this rifle as they have!! I think they do this because they don't want to be out gunned if they show up some where to deal with some criminal! I don't know if these protectors of this great county( he he) pay attention to the fact that we live right next to the largest gun owning country in the world, and if criminals want a certain firearm I'm sure they will get it!!! Time and time again this is a joke!!!

What I can remember,Krebs custom was doing saiga conversions.A bit of machining and they can accept AK stock, pistol grip, forend, factory 7.62 mags can accept .410 ammo, with a short barrel,20rd mag and AKSU folding stock there the best defensive/rabbit shotgun money can buy!(not for us Canadians though!!)

When I moved back to Canada found I could not bring my Saiga 308- 21 inch barrel because it had an AK action. I guess its because they are too reliable.

Sorry for bringing this old post back up :p

I came to see why I couldnt own one, I dont see why they can be more dangerous than a semi-shotgun used for hunting? Because of the 20 round drums?

And I agree with you Hokus Grey... criminals can get what they want... why stop good law abiding citizen's from owning one..grrrrr:canadaFlag: :HR:

There is no logic applied. It's been deemed an AK variant, and hence, prohibited. No way around that, even if you don't think it's a variant. They have determined it is, so arguing the point is moot.
