Are these considered AK variants? I know the action is based on AK operating theory, but none of the parts could be used in an AK (at least, I don't think so). Even so, I've never seen them for sale anywhere in Canada, despite the fact that they're TOO COOL and seem to sell for dirt cheap in the US  Am I missing something here?

I guess they are too close to the AK for comfort.
Granted, they're very close to an AK, but the fact remains that they're a semi-automatic shotgun, end of story. I realize that logic doesn't apply to most firearm regs, but if they're prohibited simply because they're "close to an AK" then I think it's time for me to leave the country, because that's ridiculous. Is there some other reason that they'd be prohibited?

Seems silly they would invest in a container of them when one of each would be enough to challenge the laws. Also, customs does not stop these from being imported. I could bring in as many as I like, as could most dealers. It is their class that stops them from being sold to the public.

It's a tough one to argue as the manufacturers hype the fact they are of AK design. However, things may be a little different these days at the lab.

A Saiga would be the cats ass. CanAm, take Powerwagon up on that :D... if they were allowed I'd be on the list of first 10 in Canada to have one ;)

I would be happy to bring one in to test the sytem. I am hard pressed to come up with a case as to hy these are not variants of the AK.

because they are not even rifles, they are shotguns. by banning them because of the AK like action, a airsoft AK is even more of an AK.

So there's hope after all? Eeeeexcellent :D If there's any way I can help too, CanAm, just let me know. If the ruling is overturned, I can guarantee that I'll buy one :D Maybe two...

I got $50 for the experiment...I say a bunch of us go in on one and see what happens. If it passes we draw straws for it and everyone is a winner in the long run (except my bank account!)
