First off, are these legal in Canada, and if so - where can you get them? It's more out of curiosity than anything - an AK based semi-auto shotgun should have some fun factor to it.

yeah i will post pics.
i opted for the standard saiga as i also want another new toy, i could have pushed the price tag up close to $2k on this one, mags are expensive, and theres alot of mods you can do
trigger forward ( requires new stock set ), magwell ( holds bolt open.. and then requires a new more expensive style of mag ) , optics rails , handguards etc etc.

so i got a standard one with a draganov type stock and a hunting stock, and getting an ultimak rail for it .. seen here in their main page ( and yeah will chuck a T1 micro on it )

h ttp://www.ultimak.com/

will shoot like any other 12g, just easier to reload

Interesting that it's prohib......it's a semi-auto shotgun (which there are many different kinds available). Why don't they limit the mag size, like they do on all other things? Just a thought.

It's pretty apparent that this is another 'taboo' firearm because it looks like, or is based on the evil AK...it's really kind of silly - although I've come to expect that.

unfortunately its because its based off of the AK47, and considered a variant, thusly "prohibited"

The Saiga 12 is one of the best uses of the AK47 action, every aspect of it (aside from not having a self regulating piston) is pretty much a perfect match for a shotgun.

I've shot my uncle's Saiga while visiting him in Russia. It was pure fun enjoying beautiful rural Russia's country, shishkebabs and busting a few clays with Saiga...

ive been rethinking the t1-micro for my saiga.. but getting stuck on some lower cost alternates that can handle the recoil.

something small-ish and lightweight-ish .. aimpoint comp are wayy too big

I had a Docter Optics MRD, they are pretty pricey still, but they are designed to ride on the slide of a handgun, and are built tough. A shotgun would be no problem.

That said, I love the T1 on my Benelli M4.

Unless you go with the ultra cheap knockoffs, I don't know if you can get any less expensive versions, maybe the Jpoint or some of the other ones, although plastic, they are more than capable of riding on the slide of a handgun, so a shotgun would be a breeze for it.

9 years ago, in my previous life, I sold Saiga 410K (.410 cal, with 33cm barrel)
having this beauty for 4 years and shot about 1000 rounds I had no problems, misfires or stovepipes :) they are great guns, as great as their big brothers AK-47 and AK-74 :)))
