Sako .260

How was it ordering that Edge for the 85 ? Any problems ? I have an Edge on my Sako 75 chambered in the 260 Rem. and now have a new Sako 85 Finnlight chambered in the 6.5 x 55. I would like an Edge stock on that one as well...

Well, I got lucky, sort of. They had a rifle in house with the same action when I ordered it, so they inletted 2 stocks on that rifle. They aren't buying any 85 rifles or moulds, and will only inlet for rifles that are sent in. They bought rifles and moulds for the 75 actions, and after 13 years, have only recouped 50% of their investment. And Sako discontinued the actions, so it screwed McMillan for any chance of recouping more $$..

The issues are that the tang has to be built up, and the 85's come with at least 3 different recoil lugs, maybe 4, depending on which action you have and when it was made. The rifle mine was inletted for had a different lug and I had to fill in the recess and mill a new slot for it.

After talking back and forth with Ryan @ McMillan, I think he's decided not to do any more 85 stocks, unless the actual rifle is sent in. :(

As such, I'm glad I got it when I did...
