Has anybody seen one of these in a store still new in the box? My cell phone bill is going to cost the same as the rifle if I keep phoning around. I will look at any cartridge. I really like the monte carlo style stock on the 75 compared to the 85.

Also can anybody compare the 75 to the 85? Is the 85 a better rifle than the 75 and I should just get the synthetic if I wan't a monte carlo stock?

Thanks.

Edit: I would consider a lightly used one in .25-06 or .270 WSM if you have seen one on a used rack aswell

the 75 was head and shoulders above the 85....Sako screwed up big time with the 85........child proof magazine latch for starters although the 85 is easily modified to rid it of this nanny state feature.....the redesigned cocking piece/bolt plug was an answer to a question no one asked...the 85 looks like there is something missing from the bolt handle....the pseudo controlled feed..?...another marketing gimmick...it's not a Model 70 or a Mauser and won't ever be,...so why pretend?...
I've owned four 75's and one 85...will never own another 85....

The ONLY thing the 85 has over the 75 is the laminated stock pattern.....a 75 in an 85 stock could work.....

What he said:D

I bought a Sako 85 Finnlight this spring. I saved for a bit and bought it thinking it was gonna be my forever rifle. It was gone in about a month. I was so disapponited with the stock I just couldn't believe how crappy it was. The stock was no better than the one on my Tikka or Sako A7. In fact it was worse because it had some damn adjustable check piece that creaked and groaned with pressure. Just terrible.... Mine had issues as well and ended up going back to Sako fo be fixed....

One with a laminate stock may be tolerable but they should have left the 75 alone.

Seen a 300WM model 75 Greywolf for sale last week. I'll try to remember where it was...somewhere either in Alberta or Ontario.

I LOVE MY SAKO M75 rifles, ss, Greywolf's. I too prefer the m75 stock over the m85.

What caliber you looking for...guess I should of reads the entire post....lol. Couple years ago I found a NIB Greyolf m75 rifle in 25-06, replaced the barrel and some other work and made a 338-06 Ackley Improved.

I too am looking for a model 75 ss or Greywolf 270WSM in the "SM" action. Either I find it in a Greywolf or I do a stock replacemement in a MacMillan for the SS.

Lets see:
-proper recoil lug
-nicer mag release
-a nicer stock

The only thing the 85 has over the 75 is it weighs less.
Here is another thread about this very topic:

I have a 75 Finnlight .308 that i really like, as well as the 85 greywolf in 7mm mag that i think is just as nice. My 75 finnlight is my go to deer Moose gun and my Greywolf is my sitting gun. It would be a hard choice if i had get rid of one.
SO!!!!!!!!! I'll keep them both.. LOL!

I have one of each and love them both. I prefer the 75 over the 85 mostly over the mag release. I would love a PM on how to fix the mag release on the 85. Keep an eye on the EE and be ready to pounce when one shows up.

There is a brand new 75 Greywolf in 270WSM on GunsAmerica for $1350US.You can purchase it then have Clay at Prophet River import it for you. There is also a slightly used 30-6 on GunsAmerica for $999US.

I fixed the mag release on my 85 finnlight. All you need is a file and about 2 mins. I sold the rifle and forget exactly where to file but if you PM Rembo he'll hook you up.
