Sako 75 McMillan stock vs Factory stock

anyone know the real life weight difference between the McMillan and the factory Sako 75 stock? McMillan's website didn't list those specs and the search function on here only turned up lots of nice Sako pics.

It depends on action size, and more importantly on which "fill" is used - magnum, standard, or Edge. A magnum fill stock may well be heavier than the Tupperware factory job, where I have seen edge fill stocks weigh between 5 and 16oz less, depending.
 
I have a long action Edge stock in the mail right now. Hopefully see it within a couple of weeks.

I know the factory tupperware one weighs a ton though.
 
I agree with bowie, they are really hit and miss on their weights. My edge for the V sized action saved me 15 oz, one of my III sized edges saved 12oz and my brothers IV edge saved something like 3-5 oz which is BS in my opinion. I have a standard fill III that saved me 3oz so I wonder if that edge of my brothers is really and edge - or just a $700 standard fill, marked "edge technology".

I wish there was a big enough demand for Wildcat to start producing 75 stocks.... but I am not holding my breath.
 
3oz for $700 is brutal! I know there is a bit more to the stocks than that but I wouldn't be to happy with that. I have a IV in 25-06 with a FX3 6x42 in that's weighing in pretty hefty at 9lbs. Might just have to hit the gym haha.
 
Absolutely, the only complaint I have with the 75 series is their weight. The edge on my V saved 15oz which helps a lot, but it's still not light. 4oz saving hurts.
 
With the crazy price and timing to get a McMillan stock, I'm going to be looking at the Wildcats a lot more now.

I have 2 Edge stocks on the way for 75's. I figure I'm going to be into 2 stocks for about $1400 CAN after all the shipping and US dollar conversion.

Wildcats are a prety attractive option if they're available for your rifle.
 
I put a McMillan Hunters Edge on the 300 WM I had built. They configured the stock around the Sako Hunter. The fit and finish of the stock is excellent. The action is a 700, the barrel is a Gaillard (24") with a muzzle brake, and topped with a Leica ER 3.5X14-42. The rifle weights in at 8lbs. I carried it for 7 days in the BC Rockies this past October. The weight was never an issue.
 
On my 75 .260 finnlight the edge cut 10 oz over the factory plastic.

On my 75 .338WM the standard weight stock cut 10 oz off the factory wood.

Just went through similar, I would say closer to $1600 CDN.
