Sako 75 Recoil pad upgrade?

I've got a Sako 75 in .338 and it has a fairly hard rubber pad on it. I was wondering if Sako or some other company makes a better pad to swap on.

I'll vote for the Limbsaver also, but I dont find my Sako m75 rifle recoil pads too bad, mind you the biggest rifle I have in the Sako is a 300WM.

recoil supression is always a good idea, no matter what the caliber.

why pay? it;s a pair of philip head screws

My 75 Finnlight pad just unscrews and comes right off. I'm not sure about the wood models, is it epoxyed on?? If you have to cut/sand/drill you may want a smith to do it on a nice wood Sako.

Yeah, the pad's glued on and there's a black spacer. The poly finish over the spacer is cracking/chipping from recoil...I could see making it a lot worse.

Yes they are glued on to the wood models. Any comments on that? The limbsaver website says the only models they have for sako fit synthetic versions.
Since this rig only has 15 rounds down the barrel I don't want to screw it all up by botching the butt plate.

my suggestion would be to get a grind-to-fit and have it fitted.

I had John @ Corlane Sports, Dawson Creek B.C. install a Pachmayer grind-to-fit type on my laminated Graywolf. According to him he's installed about 250 of these in the past.
At the same time he trimmed the stock so that I'd have a comfortable
13-1/2" stock measurement.
He also installed a Mercury Suppressor.
I watched most of the installation and I'd never take a chance cutting a stock and installing the grind-to-fit type of pad.
It looks like a factory job !!!

Those guys do great work as I have got some done in the past. Good to see Hotshot you broke down and got the new Greyolf. What caliber you get? Something for your benchrest shooting?
