Sako 75V Hunter Stock Replacement Recommendations

My Sako 75 V Hunter chambered in .338 WinMag has been my go to Moose rifle for the last 16 years. Hunting from an aluminum canoe has not been particularly kind to the stock so it is time for a replacement. I am going to go synthetic. Ideally I would like a Sako factory synthetic stock with raised comb and Monte Carlo cheek piece.

I tried to reach Sako tech support to see if the synthetic stock would be a drop-in replacement for the original but they do not seem to exist and the guys at Beretta did not know the answer. Anyone here know from experience?

Alternatively, what other high end synthetic stocks, that don't have to go to the gunsmith for extensive fitting, would folks recommend. Thanks

Apparently manners will inlet for almost any action. I just put one of their carbon fiber lightweights on my new build and I love it. It seems to fit me a little better than my mcmillian. The downside for either is the 6 month wait but worth it in either case.
 
I run mcmillian's on some of my 75's and they are a perfect drop in replacement. Have a gunsmith bed it if you like but it is not needed
 
Yes, a factory synthetic will fit your rifle. If you decide to go composite, McMillan, Pendleton, and mpi all make stocks for the 75 series. McMillan is the best quality of the three, and will require the least amount of fitting. However from my expierence, I wouldn't call them "drop-in".
 
I have three McMillans for the sako 75. Two edges, one standard fill, All three needed work. On all three the action inletting needed deepening. One also needed the entire barrel channel deepened, and one needed the bolt handle cut widened both ways so the handle could be closed in the action. I also bedded all three for a solid stress free bed, but also to fill in some unsightly gaps. I guess it all depends how picky you are.
 
Wow, I have three as well. No issues with any of them. They were all ordered for the specific barrel that was put on the action and all were free floated when assembled with no more inletting required.

Either way they are probably still the best choice for you're sako
 
McMillan would be my choice as well...I have had a couple of Edge stocks on Sako 85's and they were just drop in. One I bedded the other I left as it was and the rifle was deadly accurate. The other McMillan were also drop in. Just ordered another one for my next build ;)
 
Here is my Sako 75 .338wm in a McMillan stock. It is 10oz lighter than the wood stock was, and its not the EDGE tech, just standard fill...

Ive had .338's in 23, 24, and 26", and imo the 24 is about perfect. I thought i would like shorter, but the muzzle blast gets obnoxious...
 
When I rebarreled my 75 from 300wm to 338wm I was lucky enough to find a McMillan on the exchange here.
Been very happy with it.

surprised alright. when I contacted Stoeger about a replacement, it was over $500.

Beretta, Benelli and Sako come through Stoeger in Canada, not Beretta USA. Which is a good thing, because they only bring in limited models and calibres to the US.
