Sako 85 Bavarian-question

Well I handled a Sako 85 Bavarian tonight and it fits me like a glove, just awesome! But before I go and dump $2k on this I'm wondering how the stock holds up??

I carried my browning a-bolt this past deer season, and the finish on it has worn off where my hands were holding the rifle, right down to bare wood. I don't want to get into that situation again. So I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the Bavarian and what are your thoughts?

Bavarians have an oil finish. There is no build up of finish on the surface, the oil finish is absorbed into the wood.

I've got a Sako M75V with the oil finished stock. It's darkened up a bit, particularly in the palm swell area, with use.

Do I need to oil it or other maintenance? I've only ever had synthetics and the browning I mentioned earlier

Yeah, just rub it down after use.

I protect mine with a carnauba wax. Just needs a rub-down once in a while...

I assume you do the inside of the stock, but I read somewhere that we should also be treating the stock under the recoil pad.

Thoughts?
