This may be the height of irony, but I just had to return a Supergrade in 30-06 because it was the worst shooting new factory rifle I've come across lately.

As chance would have it, I came home with a Sako Grey Wolf which lived up to its 5 in 1" warranty the first day, at least with handloads. Same scope.

Cost versus value is a tough one. If my Supergrade was a shooter, it was a rifle I liked a lot for $700 less and not a bad deal. It wasn't, and as such was just an expensive noisemaker.:(

I actually like both rifles but will go with the Sako..

The superGrades are great except for one thing.....That stupid\cheap black plastic tip on the Forend of the stock. It doesnt have to be ebony, but the least they could do is put some dark rosewood on there instead of plastic.:bangHead:

I own an 85 Grey Wolf and have shot/handled Hunters, Finnlights and Bavarians. I've only handled a Super Grade but it was a nice little rifle. Fit and finish was on par with my Grey Wolf, the Hunter I handled was a nicer fit than mine though. I really don't think you can go wrong with either...

Flip a coin...

I'll go with the Winchester supergrade, because it will have much nicer wood than the Sako, and prolly shoot just as well.

The Super Grade is ~1lb heavier, which is quite a bit, imo. On the other hand I don't really like the style of the 85 Hunter's stock. BUT, there is a solution! It's called the 85 Classic, or the 85 Classic Deluxe:

I have a 85 grey wolf in 30-06 and a M70 sporter in .338 win. In terms of the price vs value. I'd say M70. The finish on the winchester is pretty durn good and it shoots great. I've never been able to get the sako to group consistently, but I'm sure it varies by rifle.

I had a similar decision a few months ago, went Sako 85 and have zero regrets.

I have a number of Sako rifles, mostly M75's, and will continue to buy more when opportunities arise. However, I would find a couple hundred $ for a Cooper before I would pay +$1800.00 for a Sako 85.
