SAKO 85 mounting Options

Where are you guys getting your 1 piece opti loc ring bases from? Looking for blued or matte lows to fit a short mag 85.

And, a related but different question, does anyone have a 56mm mounted to a 85?

I used Burris bases that slide over the dovetails, with Leupold rings on my new Sako Bavarian Carbine. They are very solid, the cost is reasonable, and they can be mounted quite low.

talleys go with sakos like mayo goes with ham sandwich, as far as I'm concerned.

Those are warne, not talley and they are mounted on weaver style bases. They are also warne maxima series which are made of sintered steel, unlike the original warne premier series that were machined from solid steel. Warne made both series to fit sako's tapered dovetail at one time but both have since been dropped.

I really liked the premier series warne, but since they are no longer an option the 1-piece ringmounts from sako are quickly gaining favour. I refuse to add bases to a rifle with integral bases so that limits most options. Basically you have the ringmounts, leupold and millet. Leupolds are alright, but aren't in the same class as the ringmounts. They aren't as strong, their stainless mounts aren't stainless but rather plated, and now leupold puts a big cheesy "L" on the tops of the rings which is hideous. They have 3 pluses. They are easy to find, are slightly lighter, and cost less. I recently bought two sets, and really wish I hadn't but rather spent the money on the ringmounts from day one. The ringmounts can be had in actual stainless steel. Have a recoil stop pin, 4 screws per ring top, and 2 much larger clamp screws - plus the nylon inserts which correct any misalignments, and won't mark your scope tube. Some guys complain they have soft screws but in the (at least 10) sets i have used I have never had an issue. Use a proper fitting wrench and proper torque and you shouldnt have an issue. The latest version uses torx screws which are better yet.
I won't even speak of millet.
Below is a picture of the 3 I mentioned. Warne premier series fixed mount (in silver - not true stainless) leupold matte and stainless ringmounts in 30mm

Agreed ... if the rifle is equipped with bases (like Sako,Tikka, BRNO, CZ etc.) I try to avoid using another set of bases. Rifle receivers that are grooved for rings have already provided the strongest base - why add a redundant (and often weaker) link to the optical sighting system.
